Dave Hart

Started in 2022, HKD Data was formed by Dave Hart, an industry leader in building and providing customized databases for marketers and analysts in the Real Estate, Financial Services, Telecommunications and Retail spaces.

Dave began his Database Marketing experience in 1991, joining a fledgling Syntony Marketing Inc. in Toronto as employee #1. With owner (an later partner), Jonathan Latsky, Dave worked in the sales and marketing area, developing relationships with agencies, list brokers and end users looking to target new business registrants. Soon, the Syntony product line was expanded to include residential directory listings, new movers, wealthy Canadians and other niche lists.

It was during this period that Dave developed an extensive network of US-based marketers looking to enter the Canadian market and helped major US credit card companies and other financial institutions that did not require bricks and mortar to enter the country. Dave’s understanding of and expertise in Canadian language laws, Privacy Laws and national and regional trends led to him and Syntony being the “go-to-guys” for US marketers, agencies and brokers entering Canada. In 1997, Syntony was acquired by Getko Direct Response, a New York-based company specializing in providing data and services for marketers targeting the new mover market. Dave remained at GDR for 3 years, growing the Canadian business exponentially.

In 2001, Dave started Baron Lists & Data Services, a boutique list and data services company. Developing partnerships with a multitude of data collectors and aggregators, Baron built a solid client base in the publishing, retail, financial services, automotive and telecommunications fields. Over the next 21 years, Baron brought many of these services in house, offering not only direct marketing lists of households, donor data and real estate properties, but also the ability to provide data hygiene, radius mapping and customer in-house data augmentation.

In 2022, Dave left and began the startup process again, bringing all of those skill sets and many of the products and services with him. He also decided to take the title of “chief cook and bottle washer” literally and took courses on SQL, web design. HKD Data continues to offer top level and the highest quality data in the real estate area, offering clients Residential and Commercial Sales and Leasing information, as well as services designed help marketers, analysts and value added resellers targeting the elusive new and pre-mover audience.
